“Rogue One” Digital/Blu Ray Review

The first full length feature Star Wars film to take place outside of the linear timeline is now available on Blu Ray and Digital!

I’m super excited to be reviewing this film because it was one of my favorite movies of 2016.

For those you haven’t seen it yet, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story takes place in tandem with A New Hope, the original film from 1977.

In Rogue One, we follow a group of rebels who work to acquire the Death Star plans for the Rebellion. Without those plans, Luke Skywalker and crew wouldn’t have had the means to attack the space station and inflict the damage in the infamous trench run scenes.

Rogue One introduces us to a slew of awesome new characters like Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) who fans are sure to fall in love with. other cast members include Donny Yen and Forest Whitaker.

As with all Star Wars and Disney movies, a lot of bonus content is packed in which make purchasing this movie worthwhile over waiting for it to hit one of the streaming services. Though I would have liked to see more commentary features, there is some amazing content packed in to justify the price in my opinion (see below for full list).

I have to admit, when I found out that Disney would be leaving the linear storyline for side stories and character films, I was a bit skeptical. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has proven that you can make a robust film within the Star Wars Universe without having to stick to the main timeline and character lineup.
