Walt Disney World Bans Use of Selfie Sticks on Attractions

Selfie Stick Ban at Walt Disney World

It was only a matter of time before Disney Parks banned the use selfie sticks on rides and attractions throughout parks.

For those not familiar, a selfie stick is a telescopic stick that you attach your phone or camera to giving you some distance between yourself and your camera giving you a wider shot.

Though these are great for pictures around the park, using them on rides may pose an issue.

First and foremost, Disney has always been concerned with guest safety. These telescopic sticks may lead to incidents on rides with low clearance or may lead to you losing your device and potentially causing injury to yourself and others.

Another common complaint is that it can be obstructive to other guests who are trying to enjoy the attractions as well.

This policy is exclusive to Walt Disney World at this time but one can only guess that this policy will reach to the California parks as well.

What are your thoughts on this?

Disneyland Announces 60th Anniversary Plans

Disneyland Forever

Disneyland fans anxiously awaited announcements that would shed some light on what the park had planned for their 60th anniversary.

Now that the dust has settled on the event, we are happy to report that Disneyland fans are up for a lot of new treats as the park celebrate their 60th birthday starting on May 22, 2015.

Fireworks, parades and World of Color! Oh my!

The first announcement made tonight was that an all new World of Color show would be making its way to Disney’s California Adventure. The new show will be a history lesson of sorts where images of Walt Disney will be projected on spraying water and telling the tale of how it all started with a mouse:

Both epic and intimate in scope, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” brings to life the remarkable story of Walt and the Happiest Place on Earth in a first-of-its-kind spectacular, presented on the magic canvas of “World of Color” with compelling animated imagery, live-action footage, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score.

Disneyland Paint the Night

As if that wasn’t enough, Disneyland also announced a new parade called “Paint the Night” where your favorite Disney characters will dawn illuminating garb and make their way up Main Street USA in what looks to be a modern Main Street Electrical Parade.

And yes…there’s still more. Disneyland will be introducing a new fireworks display called “Disneyland Forever” which is supposed to be the largest fireworks show ever to grace the park.

Disneyland Forever

“Disneyland Forever” will not only include the normal fireworks display that has lit up face on kids and adults alike for years, but the whole park will be used in the show including projections on attractions and surrounding environments.

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and Carthay Circle will both get makeovers as well in a celebratory fashion.

All of this will begin on May 22nd and parks may likely hit capacity with all of the new going ons.

Disneyland’s Mad T Party to End on November 30th

Mad T Party Ending

Opinions were always mixed when it came to the Mad T Party at Disney’s California Adventure. Though it wasn’t popular with everybody, it certainly was popular to the point where fans would gather in front of the stage hours before the event started.

If you’re not familiar with the Mad T Party, the event was held every evening in the Northeast corner of California Adventure where guests would be surrounded by colorful lights, costumes and live music.

Mad T Party Ending

Each member of the house band would take the role of a popular Alice in Wonderland character whether it was Alice on vocals, The Mad Hatter on guitar or the Cheshire Cat on keyboards and perform popular songs from the 80s, 90s and now.

Between sets, the White Rabbit would DJ and Tweedledee and Tweedledum would MC making it an awesome modern party with a Disney twist.

On top of that, it is also one of the few places at the Disneyland Resort where guests age 21 and older could purchase alcoholic beverages (which are also themed).

The Mad T Party replaced the TRON themed event, ElecTRONica, back in April of 2012.

There is no word yet as to what will be replacing the Mad T Party, but we will be sure to let you know when the news comes in.

If you want to visit the Mad T Party once more before it retires, head over to Disney’s California Adventure by November 30th!

Walt Disney World to get Frozen Attraction at Epcot Center

Frozen Epcot 2016

We knew it was only a matter of time before an attraction was engineered based on the blockbuster animated film, Frozen.

It was announced last week that the first true Frozen attraction would be built in Epcot Center at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida.

Walt Disney World makes perfect sense since Disney can be a bit more liberal with the use of land as Disneyland was built in a rather concentrated area.

The Frozen attraction is being built in the Norway Pavilion at Epcot and will be replacing the Maelstrom attraction.

Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, announced:

We’ve made Frozen a part of the guest experience in a number of ways already and our guests have both loved them and asked for more. So I’m pleased to say that we’re starting construction at Walt Disney World Resort on a brand new Frozen attraction at the Norway Pavilion in Epcot.

The Anna and Elsa meet ad greet will be located alongside the attraction making the Norway Pavilion the Arendelle Pavilion.

The attraction is scheduled for launch in early 2016.
