Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Digital/Blu Ray Review

The Guardians are back and better than ever!

One of my favorite Marvel films to date releases today on Blu Ray and Digital HD with a ton of bonus content that will have you singing your favorite hits of the 70s and 80s!

In Guardians of the Galaxy 2 we join Star Lord and his band of misfits on a new quest to save the world as well as diving deeper into Peter’s past.

Right from the get-go, the film sets the tone of brazen colors and a fight scene that takes a back seat to the most adorable Baby Groot dance sequence that could have ever existed. Going into the film, I was a bit worried that Marvel would lean too heavily into the marketing potential of Baby Groot but James Gunn had done a service of making him one of the strongest characters without completely abusing the popularity.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is a culmination of everything that makes a film great. A healthy balance of comedy and action with a well written story that may even make you shed a tear or two. We all go to the movies looking to feel something and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 makes that happen on so many levels from joy to sadness.

If you think the fun stopped in the theaters, guess again. The Blu Ray and Digital HD release offers so much more fun than the film itself including the amazing retro-esque Inferno music video which features David Hasselhoff.

Check out a full list of the bonus features below and get your copy today!…or last week if you’re only interested in the Digital version. Continue reading

“Ant-Man” Blu Ray Review

Master thief Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) comes out of retirement and joins a band of thieves for one more job that will award him the normal life as a family man that he always wanted.

During the heist, he stumbles upon a suit that would change his life forever by giving him the ability to shrink down to the size of an ant while maintaining his relative strength.

With this new power, Ant-Man is born and brings us into the latest installment in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (phase 1).

The film, like most of Marvel Studio’s films, is a solid combination of humor, drama and action. Marvel has done an excellent job of translating the not-so-famous character to the big screen and have made him likable through excellent writing and casting. Continue reading

Disney Announces New Wearable Toys with Playmation

Disney Playmation

Disney has just announced their latest innovation in the kid’s space with their new line of wearable toys called Playmation.

The first wave of Playmation toys will be Marvel themed where you are “drafted” to the Avengers and must join the team to help defeat the forces of evil.

Playmation 2

The starter pack includes a hand cannon fashioned after Iron Man’s and you shoot at stationary physical objects and imaginary objects based on voice guidance in order to progress through the story.

Think of it as a fancy version of laser tag featuring your favorite characters.

There will be an accompanying app that can be used with Playmation in order to take gameplay to the next level.

Playmation 3

The Playmation Avengers pack will be available in October of this year followed by a Star Wars set next year and a Frozen set in 2017.
