“The Nightmare Before Christmas” 20th Anniversary Celebration Announced at The El Capitan Theater

Today the official email was sent out regarding tickets for the annual showing of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” in 4D at Disney’s El Capitan Theater.

This year is a bit of a special one as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film’s release. I still remember being a kid back in 1993 with a love for both Christmas and Halloween so naturally, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” quickly became my favorite movie.

For those who haven’t experienced the film in 4D, Disney uses lights, fog and even “snow” to enhance the moviegoing experience for audiences and make them feel like they are a part of the film.

Each year, The El Capitan Theater kicks off the event on opening night with a panel consisting of film makers, voice actors and other special guests. Previous guests also include Evanescence’s Amy Lee as she performed Sally’s Song, Danny Elfman and even the man himself, Tim Burton (who I was lucky enough to take a photo with on the 10th anniversary showing).

This year, “This Nightmare Before Christmas” will be playing from October 15 – November 3. The guest on the first night will be Ken Page, who voiced Oogie Boogie, as well as an unannounced “special guest”. As of now, we have no idea who the special guest is but being the 20th anniversary, we’re hoping to report back with something big.

UPDATE: Check out our full recap of the event HERE!

There was a Tim Burton Exhibit at the MoMA a couple years ago and that’s on the East Coast! But unfortunately, a lot of these events do tend to happen on the West Coast

The exhibit was at the LACMA here in LA a while back. It was absolutely amazing. Our membership card even had Stain Boy on it.

You guys in Europe and North and South America will obviously get the movie. Try living in New Zealand , we get nothing, everything stops at Australia and doesn’t come any further.

THis sounds like such an incredible experience, specially considering the fact that I’m a huge TIm Burton fan. Sadly no such events are possible in Peru… maybe someday though…
