Disney Interactive Expected To Layoff Hundreds of Employees

Disney Interactive is expected to layoff hundreds of employees starting as early as this week.
The company recently closed their Texas affiliate, Junction Point Studios, which resulted in 50 layoffs. Junction Point Studios was responsible for the “Epic Mickey” titles.
Disney announced that it lost over $76 million in the 2013 fiscal year which ended on September 28th.
In the last quarter of 2013, Disney Interactive actually netted a profit due to the success of the “Disney Infinity” launch which has sold over 3 million copies to date.
Disney CEO, Bob Iger, has been vocal about making Disney Interactive a profitable entity for the company. He hopes to do so by cutting costs significantly to the departments which are struggling to produce a profit while focusing on the bread and butter projects like the recently confirmed “Disney Infinity 2″.
