“101 Dalmatians” Blu Ray Review
99 puppies bark their way into your home on February 10th with the Diamond Edition Blu Ray release of 101 Dalmatians!
The original film, which was released in 1961, tells the story of songwriter Roger and his dog Pongo. When Pongo starts to feel that both him and Roger need more out of life, he takes it upon himself to find a mate for himself and his faithful owner.
Pongo finds a female Dalmatian by the name of Anita and find themselves with a litter of adorable puppies.
Famed Disney Villain, Cruella de Vil, takes interest in the puppies in her quest to make a Dalmatian coat and the puppies go on a journey of escaping the evil Cruella and having to find their way home.
As with most of the older standard aspect ratio Disney films, the 101 Dalmatians Diamond Edition Blu Ray gives fans the option of using Disney View which hides the side bars with custom art that blends into the film.
The Diamond Edition includes the Blu Ray, DVD and Disney Movies Anywhere downloadable copy (which works with iTunes, Vudu and through its own iOS and Android apps). The Blu Ray also offers some great bonus features including:
- The Further Adventures of Thunderbolt
- Walt Disney Presents The Best Doggoned Dog in the World (1961 Version)
- Lucky Dogs
- Dalmatians 101: Hosted by Cameron Boyce (Disney Channel’s “The Descendants”)
- Plus a Selection of Classic Bonus Features
My personal favorite is The Best Doggoned Dog in the World which features Walt Disney on the 1961 episode of Wonderful World of Color. It’s vintage classic vintage Disney!
